We are thankful for the foresight of our association to set up the Hilda Mayo Church Planting Fund over 20 years ago. The churches and individuals that have faithfully contributed to this fund over the years are now having an impact in the working of the Kingdom of God. We hope to be able to provide support for our third (3rd) church plant this month (February).
Thus far over 125 people have made professions of faith in Christ and been baptized through the ministries of our church plants. These new churches are having an impact on their communities through their ministries and our association is being strengthened as a result of these new church planting partnerships. The presence of church plants in our association encourages existing churches in the area of evangelism. This also allows partnering churches to join together in ministry.
Why be involved in church planting? Church planting is Biblical and missional. Church planting focuses on the lost and un-churched. New churches are more evangelically effective than existing churches. New churches reach new people groups. New churches do things in new ways. New churches form new fellowship circles. Church planting strengthens the evangelistic effectiveness of those partnering churches. Church planting develops leaders through new leadership opportunities. ~ Rev. Mark Gray, Church Planting & Missions Development Team Leader, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina
